It’s odd that the trend of moms who blog became its own niche during a time when I was studying digital communication (in the 2000s), never thinking I could one day be a mom who blogs. Alas, here we are.
A few weeks ago, I sat at a round table with students talking about my career, the best advice I have for anyone starting out and what the communications industry can do and be for you. In the midst of that, I shared the best advice I was given when I was their age – write every single day.
As I shared that sentiment, I felt a deep tug that has been sitting with me ever since.
I need to take my own advice.
While writing every day is part of the work I get to do, it isn’t the same as showing up in a space of my own.
I share short (ish) quips on socials, but rarely, anymore, do I sit down to dive deep. So… here we are … in my “attempt” to write every day.
The fact that I tied this blog to both coffee and bourbon forever ago is ironic, given how both (and Jesus) are vital to surviving this phase of life.
Being a mom has, no doubt, changed me. I feel like it’s allowed me to think and feel on a much deeper level… but also in a way that keeps me humble.
So, here are the rules. I am not a Pinterest mom. I will not put together curated clothes and gift guides, and I certainly don’t have my life together (not a single part).
In direct opposite—I am a late 30s introvert who is overstimulated easily. I married the love of my life, who is the epitome of sunshine, sarcasm and social energy. Bonus? I gave birth to his mini me — who is 100% his father’s (until he’s absolutely mine).
I love God, I love my family and I love my job — but life is never that pretty and packaged. So, what I can promise you is an unashamed and authentic look at how this role is shaping who I am — to often include both the good, the bad and the toddler tired.
The last few years have been a full-on adventure, for lack of a better description, and I can only imagine what the days ahead will involve.
Lucky for you, I’m bringing you along.

Welp! You made it. Or, I’ve made it? I don’t know. Regardless, you’re here in my corner of the Internet. I can’t promise you groundbreaking content, but I can promise a very real and honest approach to my life as an introverted communicator who tries to subdue the busy with food, fitness and copious amounts of coffee (and a splash or five of bourbon).
